We are thrilled to announce that Coastruction has received a generous subsidy of €81,883 from CityLab010 for our Reefs 'R Us project. This incredible support marks the beginning of an inspiring journey, combining creativity, sustainability, and community engagement to develop the next generation of artificial reefs.
The Reefs 'R Us project aims to address climate stress and biodiversity loss, while striving to create resilient communities. Collaborating with young adults, climate experts, civil engineers, ecologists, and Rotterdam artists, we will delve into how reef development can benefit both nature and society in Rotterdam. Our approach will focus on three key concepts: creativity, the use of waste concrete from the city, and inclusiveness.
Through a design workshop, we will explore innovative ways to create artificial reefs that enhance river ecosystems while fostering environmental responsibility and community involvement. The Reefs 'R Us project represents a significant step forward in our mission to promote sustainability and restore biodiversity in the Nieuwe Maas region.
